Description
Domaine des Closiers is one of the most exciting estates to emerge from the Loire in recent years. This historic estate in Saumur-Champigny was purchased in 2018 by Anatole de la Brosse, a wine-loving and successful management consultant, who actually started his career studying enology. The approach is one of pure quality first; to help dive into the nuances of the terroir he has engaged Michel Chevré (Clos de l’Ecotard) to consult on bio-conversion, and Nady Foucault (ex-Clos Rougeard) to advise on winemaking. The wine style is one of depth and complexity, as opposed to ‘simple’ examples of Cabernet Franc.
Les Coudraies comes from the low-yielding limestone slopes of Parnay that were cropped at 40 hectoliters per hectare that year. Vinified in stainless steel tanks and then aged in barrels. Only its second vintage.
