Description
Arnot Roberts sources their Gamay from two high elevation vineyards in the Sierra foothills that are anchored in decomposed granite. Gamay feels very much at home on these granitic slopes; the same bedrock which you find in Beaujolais, its native home.
To retain the ‘light on its feet’ approach, it is fermented with 100% whole cluster and partial carbonic maceration. No new oak is used on the wine, which helps to retain the vibrancy of the fruit and fermentation expression. As with all of the Arnot Roberts wines, ‘less is more’ in the winemaking, with minimal additions throughout. These choices lead to a youthfully approachable expression of Gamay, with great depth of flavour and structure. In the heat of Singapore, a light chill to the wine won’t hurt at all and help to retain the pure fruited nature of the wine.
