Description
André Heucq began the family run domaine in 1936—now the fourth generation continues their great grandfather’s legacy. André, the third generation and current chef de cave, steered the domaine towards biodynamic practices with the estate certified since 2018, after having practiced them for many years prior.
The estate is located in Cuisles, in the Vallée de la Marne; an area very much home to Meunier. The Heritage Blanc de Meunier is an assemblage of vineyards within the villages of Cuisles, Chatillon-sur-Marne, Serzy and Mareuil-le-Port. These vines uniquely sit on illite clay, which retains water better than Champagne’s notable chalky clay and is rich in nutrients.
This 100% Meunier cuvée was fermented in stainless steel to retain its freshness, before spending 3 years on lees before disgorgement—and as a Brut Nature expression, it is in its rawest state with no dosage added. It demonstrates the nuances of Meunier, highlighting quality grapes with the unique characteristics of the illite clay.
With the vigour of the fourth generation, the estate of André Heucq is one to keep your eyes on.
