Description

The wines of Jean-François Ganevat have gained cult status amongst winelovers, with people scrambling to find bottles the world over. He returned to the family domaine in 1998 after ten years working in Burgundy. The estate is now certified biodynamic by Demeter. Since 2013, the ‘estate’ wines have been complemented by the ‘A&JF Ganevat’ range of negociant wines. They consist of purchased fruit from organic and biodynamic vignerons whom they know.

La Croix des Batailles is a blend of Gamay from Beaujolais grown on granitic soils, and Chardonnay from the Jura. It drinks as a true vin de soif with freshness and vibrancy marked by bright acidity and juiciness of fruit flavours. The Gamay plays the most central role in the wine, with lots of bright red fruit flavours on both the nose and the palate.

The red wines of the Ganevat’s negociant range received mixed reviews in earlier vintages, however the recent vintages have found their footing and have seen a remarkable rise in quality. The 2018 Winemaker of the Year continues to go from strength to strength across his range of both the estate bottlings and negociant range.
