Description
Fabien Duveau represents the 8th generation of his family estate, having taken the reins in 2008. Upon joining the domaine, he introduced both organic and biodynamic viticultural practices to the domaine’s 40 parcels spread out over 20 hectares. His intense focus upon the vines leads to a truly deep dive and exploration of the intra-parcel individualities, with each of the bottlings being an expression of a parcel or part thereof. In addition to looking at vineyards in totality he also has two separate bottlings of Cabernet Franc from within the famed Les Poyeux vineyard, along with being the only producer to have a truly rare Chenin Blanc from the vineyard – from a mere 0.08 hectare parcel.
A gentle touch in the cellar is employed to let the individualities of the parcels shine through, with only a small addition of sulphur before bottling being the only addition through the winemaking process. The winery sits in the heart of the village of Chacé, near the famed Clos Rougeard, with its cellars in a century’s old tuffeau cave.
