A recent acquisition by Fanny, extending her holdings into the Côte Chalonnaise. Mature Chardonnay vines, at over 30 years old, that dive deep into the clay-limestone soils of Mercurey.

Despite being quite a recent addition to the domaine, Beaune Clos des Renardes remains as Fanny’s ‘coup de cœur’—“absolute favourite”. The plot is surrounded by forestation, with wild flowers growing throughout. It sits above the Premier Crus of Beaune, approximately halfway between the north and south of the city’s delineation. The vines are between 40 to 50 years old, on clay-limestone soil.

In her home village, Fanny has a number of parcels averaging 50 years of age which combine to produce her village expression. As with her Volnay, they demonstrate the capabilities these villages have beyond their often maligned reputations with a gentler hand than the often tannic and unyielding examples its known for.

Fanny's delicate hand demonstrates itself very evidently through both her Volnay and Pommard bottlings. A far cry from the hard and austere reputation of the villages, she manages to provide enticing aromatics above a finely structured tannin profile with layers on the palate.

Fanny took over the family's parcel in 2005. One of the top rated vineyards with Beaune, towards the Pommard border and sharing similar soils as its southern neighbour.
